Build Confidence With Your Red Dot

Red dot optics can transform your shooting experience—but developing confidence and consistency with your optic takes practice and the right techniques.

The Red Dot Essentials Course is a dynamic 4-hour training experience designed for shooters who want to build skill and confidence with pistol-mounted optics. Whether you are transitioning from traditional iron sights or working through common red dot challenges, this course provides practical tools and proven techniques to help you improve your performance on the range.


Our Goal

Build confidence with your red dot.

This course will teach you how red dot optics work, how to quickly find your dot, and how to stay on target—especially during recoil. You’ll learn simple, effective drills designed to improve your shooting skills both at home through dry practice and on the range through live-fire training.

By the end of the course, you’ll have a better understanding of your optic, feel more in control of your shooting, and have a clear plan for continued improvement.

Course Overview

Led by certified A Girl & A Gun instructors, this course provides a supportive and welcoming environment for shooters of all experience levels. Through focused instruction and purposeful drills, participants will gain the knowledge and confidence needed to take control of their red dot journey.

You’ll leave with practical skills, a better understanding of your equipment, and clear next steps for continued progress.


Class Details

Date: Sunday, October 4, 2026

Time: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Course Fee: $75 per participant

Duration: 4 hours


Required Equipment

Participants should bring:

  • Eye protection

  • Hearing protection

  • A functional semi-automatic handgun chambered in .22LR, .380, or 9mm

  • Handgun with a pistol-mounted optic pre-installed

  • Optic zeroed for 10, 15, or 25 yards

  • Optic user manual and sight adjustment tools

  • Spare optic battery

  • Minimum of three magazines

  • 150–200 rounds of factory ammunition

  • Notepad and pen (strongly recommended)


Recommended Attire

  • Climate-appropriate clothing

  • High-collar shirt (no low-cut or V-neck tops)

  • Pants with a sturdy waistband

  • Ballcap recommended

  • Closed-toe shoes
